Kyogo Furuhashi dazzled as Celtic beat Ferencvaros in the Europa League on Thursday to earn Chris Sutton’s praise on Twitter, but Cameron Carter-Vickers also caught his eye.
Furuhashi scored his 11th goal of the season so far three-minutes into the Groupama Arena affair to break the deadlock. The Japan international slotting home from 12-yards out after faking out Miha Blazic by feigning to shoot.
He sent the Ferencvaros defender chasing shadows on the 26-year-old’s 17th game for the Bhoys to date. After joining Ange Postecoglou’s side for £4.5m from Vissel Kobe in July.

Furuhashi caused Ferencvaros constant issues as Celtic did the double over the Hungarian outfit in the Europa League group stage. And turned playmaker in the second-half to find Liel Abada for the Hoops’ third goal of the night.
Sutton was in awe of what Furuhashi produced in Budapest, lauding the striker the best player in Scotland right now. The four-time Premiership winner with the Bhoys also praised Carter-Vickers’ efforts in Postecoglou’s backline.
“Deserved victory for Celtic,” Sutton wrote. “Still shoot themselves in the foot but in the main, very controlled.
“Carter-Vickers excellent once again at the back. Kyogo the best player in the country so far this season unplayable at times tonight. Job done.”
Furuhashi has been a revelation for Celtic
Furuhashi has been a revelation for Celtic since moving to Parkhead this summer. While Carter-Vickers has also stood firm, and produced a strong performance on Thursday.
The £20k-a-week Tottenham Hotspur loanee stuck to his man and kept Ferencvaros out for much of the game. Constantly on guard to deny the Green Eagles, and nothing more he could have done for either of their goals.
Joe Hart was unfortunate when Oleksandr Zubkov’s cross deflected up off Josip Juranovic and looped into the net. While Myrto Uzuni found his far corner with a superb strike from the edge of the Bhoys box.
