Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano is aware of speculation linking Serie A hotshot Dusan Vlahovic with Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as he told Tuttomercatoweb.
Talk about silencing your critics.
Whistled by his own supporters following Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to newly-promoted Venezia, Vlahovic set his sights on turning those jeers into cheers.
With four goals in his last three games, including a clinical hat-trick against Spezia last time out, the self-confident centre-forward has done just that.
“We are talking about a guy who has already scored eight goals in 11 games despite not being able to serve him well (with chances) in some matches,” says Italiano, batting away concerns about Vlahovic’s attitude despite his decision to reject a new contract.
“He always gives his soul. Seeing him play with this enthusiasm gives us confidence.”
Is Dusan Vlahovic on his way to the Premier League?
It is expected that Vlahovic will be sold by Fiorentina at some point in 2022 and reports suggesting that he could join La Viola’s old rivals Juventus – following in the footsteps of Federico Chiesa – certainly haven’t gone down well in Florence.
Juventus are likely to face plenty of competition, however, with the Mail reporting that Antonio Conte has identified Vlahovic as one of his top transfer targets at Tottenham Hotspur.
“I don’t read the newspapers, I’ve seen Arsenal, Tottenham, (Manchester) City, Juve, Milan, everything and more. Now, they are just rumours and situations that are not very credible to me,” Italiano added.
“The boy is concentrated and you have seen how much he cares about doing well.”
Vlahovic has scored more goals than anyone else in Serie A so far this season and, following the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku last summer, the Golden Boot is certainly in his sights.
