Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool’s official website that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not injured after their clash with Atletico Madrid last night.
Big boost
The Liverpool midfielder was given a rare start at Anfield yesterday and he put in a solid display in the heart of midfield.
Given Oxlade-Chamberlain’s past injury record there were some concerns when he was taken off before full-time.
But Klopp insists that the England international is not injured and will be fit enough to face West Ham United on Sunday.
“Oxlade had a few games, but not too many, so we didn’t want to push him through that game,” he said.
“We have the next one on Sunday, we need all the boys, so that was the reason. He’s fine.”
Could the Ox start again?
Liverpool’s clash with West Ham could be an extremely tough one, given David Moyes’ side’s strong form this season.
The news that Oxlade-Chamberlain is fit enough to feature, therefore, looks like a major boost.
His energy and speed were a big asset to Liverpool last night, and he may well have done enough to retain his starting place at the weekend through his display.

Klopp has consistently praised Oxlade-Chamberlain’s attitude this season, and has suggested that he has been training well.
The 28-year-old, crucially, has avoided the treatment room so far, and seems to be building up some rhythm now.
Liverpool also have momentum in their favour, as they are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League at this stage of the season.
