Tim Sherwood shared that Jurgen Klopp was ‘not even trying’ to shake hands with Diego Simeone straight after Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday, as he told Soccer Special (03/11/21 at 9:55 pm).
The Sky pundit shared that Simeone wasn’t even looking at his managerial counterpart after they recreated the scenes from the reverse leg.
When Liverpool beat the La Liga champions in Madrid, Simeone decided to jog down into the tunnel, rather than shake hands with Klopp.
It left the German bewildered and Simeone made it clear that he would do the same at Anfield.
But it seems as though Klopp was having none of it yesterday and make sure that he didn’t even step forwards towards the former midfielder.
“All eyes on Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone,” said Sherwood. “We saw there was a blank from Simeone in the home game.
“Let’s see if he shakes his hand this time, here we go. The full-time whistle goes. Simeone not even looking at him.
“Jurgen’s not even trying to go and shake his hand because he doesn’t want to get blanked again. He’s shaking the hand of his own team.”

The talk can rage on whether the two managers should or shouldn’t shake hands.
But one fact that remains is that the Reds beat Simeone’s men, both home and away, and have now booked their place in to the last-16.
Klopp will feel he has had the last laugh, as he has clearly hit a nerve with Simeone, walked away with the points and his team’s name into the hat for the knockout stages.
It would be something if the duo meet again later on in the competition because there will be more fireworks, if it does happen.
