Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left delighted after hearing that Antonio Conte actually wanted Emerson Royal at Inter Milan before joining.
Emerson in demand
The Athletic say that when Inter sold Achraf Hakimi, Conte wanted Emerson to replace him.
However, he left the Italian club and Tottenham ended up landing the right-back from Barcelona.
Emerson has made a steady rather than spectacular start at Spurs, but there is real optimism that he could benefit from Conte’s arrival.
The Italian boss generally likes to play with a system which incorporates wing-backs, and that could really amplify Emerson’s strengths.
Interestingly, there has already been claims that Conte is a big fan of both Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele in Football London.
And all the noises around the new appointment seem to be highly positive for Tottenham fans at the moment.

Conte’s reign as Tottenham boss begins tomorrow evening, when they take on Vitesse Arnhem.
