Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Club announced that Anthony Ralston has signed a new four-year contract.
What’s the story?
Well, what a turnaround it’s been for Ralston at Celtic Park.
The 22-year-old didn’t appear to have a bright future at Parkhead before Ange Postecoglou arrived in Glasgow.
However, under the Australian, Ralston has thrived, and is arguably Celtic’s most improved player this season.
Impressively, the Scotland Under-21 international has already scored four goals from full-back this term, while also providing two assists.
At 22, it now seems as if Ralston can kick on in Paradise and become a regular member of the starting XI under Postecoglou.
His transformation, in such a short space of time, has been nothing short of sensational – he deserves credit for knuckling down and improving himself.
Did Celtic help Anthony Ralston by signing Josip Juranovic?
In our view, the signing of Josip Juranovic helped give Ralston a rocket up the backside, and some motivation for the £7,500-a-week man to get better.
Juranovic is a 13-cap Croatia international, and arrived at Celtic with a big reputation and plenty of quality.
As a result, Ralston knew he needed to step things up, or he surely would’ve lost his place in the team to the 26-year-old.
It just goes to show what having competition for places can do.
Now, Celtic mustn’t be afraid to sign players in positions they already have covered – clearly, it can take an underperforming player’s level up a gear.
