Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham – and fans may now have encouragement from a shock source.
The Reds chose not to sign a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum this summer. That has left many Liverpool fans hopeful of a big midfield addition in 2022.
It currently looks like Liverpool’s dream signing would be Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
Bild reported last week that Dortmund are twitching a little because they know Jurgen Klopp wants Bellingham.
Dortmund are slapping a €120million asking price on Bellingham. That works out to around £101million that Liverpool would have to pay.
That’s a huge price – a potential Liverpool club record.
Yet with Bellingham racking up three goals and six assists already this season and having the world at his feet at the age of just 18, it could be money well spent.
Liverpool signing Bellingham ‘almost a cert’
If Liverpool fans needed some hope over Bellingham, it may have just arrived.
Whiston-born Craig Hignett – a former Liverpool trainee who ended up starring at Crewe Alexandra, Middlesbrough and Barnsley before becoming Hartlepool United boss – has been speaking about Bellingham.

Working as an analyst for BBC Radio Merseyside, Hignett has remarkably claimed that Bellingham is ‘Liverpool bound’.
Hignett claims to have it on ‘good authority’ that Bellingham is telling friends that he is off to Liverpool in 2022.
Hignett added that the move is ‘almost a cert’, which may just excite some Liverpool fans with Bellingham a wanted man.
“I think I’ve heard it on good authority and I can’t say where I’ve heard it from, but apparently he has been saying that he is Liverpool bound,” said Hignett. “Whether that is January or whether that is the end of the season isn’t sure yet, but I think, I have it on good authority that it is almost a cert,” he added.
