Aaron Ramsdale is the talk of the town after his performance for Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners may have won 2-0, which looks to be a comfortable scoreline on paper, but they owe plenty to their goalkeeper.
Indeed, the stopper was undoubtedly the London club’s Man of the Match in this game.
He made a number of ludicrous saves including one in the 42nd minute from James Maddison’s free-kick, while he also stopped the follow-up from Jonny Evans.
The save will undoubtedly go down as one of the best we see this season, but according to goalkeeping icon Peter Schmeichel, it was the best save he’d seen for years.
This is a big claim from Schmeichel.
We going through something of a goalkeeping golden generation right now, particularly in England.
We’re lucky enough to watch the likes of Ederson, Alisson, Hugo Lloris, Edouard Mendy and David De Gea on a weekly basis in the Premier League, but Schmeichel believes that Ramsdale’s save vs Leicester topped anything he’s seen from any of those goalies in recent years.
It was simply a stunning save and when all is said and done in Ramsdale’s career, that moment will inevitably end up on his highlight reel.
