Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Mikel Arteta commented on William Saliba, amid question marks surrounding the defender’s future.

What’s the story?

Well, the £27m Arsenal man was in the headlines after he delivered a stunning display for Marseille against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

Saliba impressively managed to keep a clean sheet up against the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Leicester on Saturday, Arteta said that Edu and Loan Manager Ben Knapper flew to France to watch his heroic display.

When asked what the future holds for Saliba at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta told Football London: “As a club we are always in touch. Edu and Ben were there to watch him and keep a close eye on the progress he’s making.

“I think there is room (for Saliba next season). It will depend on what happens with other players and that’s not a conversation to have now.”

Now, the Arsenal fans below are a bit worried by these comments.

Should Arsenal keep William Saliba?

In our view, we have no idea how this is even a question.

We strongly believe everyone should get at least one chance to prove themselves – it wouldn’t be fair otherwise.

In that respect, it is disappointing to see that Arteta hasn’t actually handed Saliba a competitive first-team appearance since replacing Unai Emery.

How is the Spaniard supposed to make a decision on the 20-year-old without actually seeing what he can do in an Arsenal shirt?

Saliba wasn’t cheap, and it’s about time the Gunners started getting something for their money.

If Arteta doesn’t hand the centre-back an opportunity next season, there may be riots at the Emirates Stadium.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Arteta’s comments on Saliba…
