Lucas Moura’s agent has played down the possibility of a Brazilian homecoming for the Tottenham Hotspur star, telling Yahoo Sports that the chances of him leaving the Premier League are ‘very, very, very small’.
The long-serving Spurs star would not be the first South American footballer to retrace his steps and return to where it all began.
The likes of Diego Costa, Douglas Costa and Hulk have all been welcomed back to their Samba homeland in recent months.
Speaking to ESPN in September, former Sao Paulo star Lucas admitted that he plans to pull on the iconic Tricolor shirt once again before he hangs up his boots, insisting that ‘it is in my plans to go back to Brazil’.
Nuno Espirito Santo has nothing to worry about just yet, however, with three years remaining on Lucas’s contract.
Does Lucas Moura have a big future at Tottenham?
“The possibility of Lucas’s return (to Sao Paulo) now is very, very, very small,” said Junior Pedroso, the former PSG star’s representative, pouring enough water to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool on the raging fires of transfer speculation.
“He is an absolute starter at Tottenham.”

Included in the first XI for seven of Spurs’ nine Premier League games since the appointment of one-time Wolves boss Nuno, a player entering his peak years at the age of 29 has blossomed into one of the club’s most impressive performers during a difficult 12 months.
With the likes of Steven Bergwijn and summer signing Bryan Gil flattering to deceive once again during Wednesday’s 1-0 Carabao Cup victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, it seems unlikely that Lucas will be in danger of losing his position any time soon.
The 35-time Brazil international, a £25 million signing from Paris Saint-Germain nearly four years ago, netted the winner away at Sean Dyche’s side; a bouncing header from Emerson Royal’s inch-perfect cross his first goal since finding the net against the same opposition in February.
