Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Harvey Elliott posting a video on his Instagram story of him running in the pool.

On Wednesday evening, as Liverpool were recording a 2-0 win against Preston North End in the League Cup, Elliott was building his way back to action.

The 18-year-old posted a clip of him doing light jogs from one end of the pool to the other, with the caption ‘we keep pushing’.

It delighted the Liverpool faithful and brought a little joy to their evening because the game at Deepdale wasn’t exactly an entertaining one.

Only after the hour mark did Jurgen Klopp’s side, through Takumi Minamino and then Divock Origi’s outrageous flick, make their mark in the game.

It was a lacklustre performance from the free-scoring Premier League side, who have now put their name into the hat for the next round.

But added with that, they are delighted to see Elliott making progress and they are hopeful that he returns quicker than expected.

In truth, even if he does return early, there is no way Klopp rushes him back, but instead, probably takes even extra game with him.

He’s not a first-team regular yet, so he can take even longer in his recovery than any time frame he is aiming for.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to what Elliott posted on IG during the game last night:
