Back in the summer, Liverpool were said to have made an approach to sign Nordsjælland forward Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Now, we’d estimate he’s worth triple that sum, as the 5-cap Ghana international currently finds himself among the top ten players in Europe.
What’s the story?
Well, Sulemana isn’t just in the top ten.
The 19-year-old actually finds himself second in WhoScored‘s form ranking across the last six games in Europe’s top five divisions.
Sulemana has averaged a rating of 8.14, which is bettered only by Mohamed Salah, who has a rating of 8.88.
Salah’s form is otherworldly right now, so the Rennes No.10 can be very proud of his efforts.
WhoScored add that the teenager has also completed more dribbles than any other Under-21 player in Europe’s top five leagues, with 36.
Forget Salah, can Sulemana be the next Mané at Liverpool?
Interestingly, Sulemana has been deployed on the left wing this season, where he tends to cut inside on his stronger right foot.
Remind you of anyone?
That is exactly how Sadio Mané plays his football, another forward who also loves to dribble.
It’s almost as if Sulemana is Mané 2.0 – the similarities are certainly there.
Both Mané and Salah are 29, and while they still have around three or four years left at the top, Michael Edwards must start identifying long-term replacements.
There would be no harm in splashing the cash on Sulemana in the summer of 2022, before loaning him back to Rennes for another season.
Then, if either Mané or Salah are struggling ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Jürgen Klopp would have a ready-made replacement.
