Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Marseille posted a tweet about William Saliba, following their 0-0 draw with Paris Saint-Germain.

What’s the story?

Well, the 20-year-old Arsenal man delivered a phenomenal display for the French giants, as he shut out Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The Gunners wonderkid, signed by Unai Emery for £27m, joined Marseille on a season-long loan back in July as Mikel Arteta decided he needed to gain more experience.

Under Jorge Sampaoli, he is getting exactly that.

As Marseille tweeted, Saliba completed 96.6% of his passes against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and also won 80% of his duels.

It was a colossal display, with one Arsenal fan below writing that he reminded them of Virgil van Dijk.

Another described the Frenchman as an ‘unbelievable’ footballer.

In our view, Arteta would be mad to send Saliba away from the Emirates Stadium again next season.

He looks more than ready to compete with Ben White and Gabriel Magalhães in north London.

Saliba looks extremely calm and tidy in possession, so even if Arteta opts for two centre-backs, we feel the youngster could even do a job in front of White and Gabriel as a defensive midfielder.

His talent opens many doors for him, and the Gunners need to start making the most of their big-money signing.

If Arteta can’t see what Saliba is capable of, that is a real concern.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the tweet from Marseille…
