Liverpool are said to be looking into the possibility of signing Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea, according to EuroSport

Rudiger to Anfield?

Rudiger’s contract at Chelsea is due to expire at the end of the season, and the pair have not been able to agree over a new contract yet.

As a result, Liverpool are now keeping a keen eye on the situation, with a view to making a move at a later date.

Liverpool are already fairly well stocked at the back, but the possibility of landing Rudiger on a free will be a tempting one for any side able to afford it.

The German centre-back, who Chelsea paid £29 million for (Guardian), has excelled ever since Thomas Tuchel arrived.

At Liverpool he would add further strength to a defensive unit which already ranks as one of the best in the Premier League.

Strong pairing

A potential partnership with Virgil van Dijk would be extremely difficult for oppositions strikers to come up against, though.

Rudiger is blessed with great strength and is quick enough to adapt to Liverpool’s high line.

But Chelsea surely will make a bigger play to keep him at Stamford Bridge at some point in the future, especially now rivals seem to be circling.
