West Ham and Newcastle United supporters reacted to Jesse Lingard’s Twitter message after Manchester United suffered a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The former West Ham loanee, who has also been linked to Newcastle after their big-money takeover, was reacting to comments aimed at him whilst he warmed up yesterday.

It seems as though a Man United supporter urged Lingard to ‘work harder’ to which he replied in the following way, as he posted below.

Both West Ham and Newcastle fans have urged Lingard to leave Old Trafford and come to their club where he will be appreciated.

Lingard has already tasted life in East London, after his free-scoring six-month spell last term helped put his career back on track and guide the Hammers into Europe.

The England international isn’t getting the starts he would have wanted since returning to his boyhood club, and with his contract running out, it does make things interesting.

There were suggestions that Newcastle, after a Saudi-led group replaced Mike Ashley, are looking at the prospect of signing the 28-year-old, as reported by the Telegraph.

Newcastle supporters made it clear that they would like him to join them, but they aren’t the only ones because the West Ham faithful wouldn’t mind him back either.

But before Lingard can think about where he will be in January, or next summer, he will be focusing on trying to get Man United back on their feet after that knockout blow by Liverpool.
