Michael Dawson has said on Sky Sports News (2:55pm, October 23, 2021) that Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley would be a good signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

The former Tottenham Hotspur central defender believes that Barkley would add depth to the Leeds midfield.

90min reported this month that Leeds are among the clubs interested in signing the former Everton midfielder from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder had a loan spell at Elland Road from Everton back in 2013.

Dawson said when asked if Barkley would make Leeds better: “Very much so.”

The Sky Sports pundit added: “Barkley would be a good signing. You talked about the depth in the squad. It’s very, very small.”

Would Ross Barkley make Leeds United better?

Leeds have had injury problems, and that is affecting them badly.

Kalvin Phillips, Luke Ayling, Robin Koch and Patrick Bamford are among the players who have suffered or are suffering with injuries.

Barkley is a very good attacking midfielder who is dynamic, scores goals, and creates chances.

In our view, the England international would be a good signing for Leeds and would make Bielsa’s team better and stronger in the middle of the park.

However, the price has to be right.

Barkley has not really done well since leaving Everton for Chelsea in 2018.

The progress and development of the 27-year-old attacking midfielder has been stunted.

However, we think that Barkley can still get back to his best.

That being said, we have to stress that Leeds should not pay over the odds for the 27-year-old.
