Celtic are reportedly keen on signing Lee Buchanan.
Ange Postecoglou has a major problem with regards to left-back options in Glasgow.
Since taking the Celtic job this past summer, Postecoglou has used no fewer than five different players in this position.
And The Scottish Sun has this morning reported that the Hoops have personally scouted the 20-year-old Derby County youngster.
The report adds that the cash-strapped Rams could look to move on the player in January.
Wazza a fan
Buchanan’s manager at Derby is a certain Wayne Rooney.
And the legendary striker is clearly a huge fan of the young defender.
In February of this year, Rooney said: “He’s a top, top player. I’d argue he’s one of the best young left-backs in the country. And he can go to another level as well….no….he’s a real top player.”
Two weeks later, Rooney claimed that the player was only years away from a full England debut.
This is a big player with a bright future and what a coup it could be for Celtic to land him on the cheap in January.
Problem is, the Bhoys won’t be the only club interested, particularly with the Championship side having well-documented financial problems.
But as mentioned, Celtic do absolutely need a reliable and steady left-back option, so time will tell how genuine their interest is.
