Tottenham winger Lucas Moura has spoken in awe of the ‘unreal’ Neymar, as he told the Players’ Tribune.
Both Moura and Neymar came through the ranks with one another at Brazil giants Sao Paulo, and the Tottenham man shared how it has been a ‘great honour’ being compared to his fellow countryman.
Back in 2018, Spurs paid Paris Saint-Germain £23 million (BBC Sport) for Moura’s talents and that was the last time he shared a pitch with Neymar.
Moura will, of course, have aspirations of adding more Brazil caps to his name, and if he does, then he will be able to re-unite with the former Barcelona man.
But he can now only watch him from afar, as he shared what Neymar is like, both on and off the field of play.
“The talent? Man, it was unreal,” said Moura. “Neymar was already incredible. Some people compared us, which was a great honour for me.
“He’s an amazing guy with a massive heart. He’s one of the biggest stars in the world, but go to his house for dinner and he’ll treat you like a prince.
“On the pitch, he has so much courage. He can screw up a dribble or miss a chance, but the next time he gets the ball he acts as if it never happened, you know?
“He’s not intimidated by his own mistakes. That’s a type of bravery I admire a lot.”
One thing both Neymar and Moura possess is a natural ability to carry the ball with speed.
Moura is yet to score or assist in the Premier League this season, which is perhaps the big issue in his game, because if he can bulk up his numbers then he will be talked about a lot more.
Last season, he netted three Premier League goals and the campaign before he scored on four occasions.
But he hasn’t been able to match or better then ten league goals he scored when he first swapped Ligue 1 for the Premier League.
