Barcelona wide man Ousmane Dembele is open to joining Newcastle United next year in a huge potential move for the Magpies.

Reports from Foot Mercato on Wednesday suggested that Newcastle had opened talks to sign Dembele.

They stated that Newcastle were willing to pay Dembele £245,000-a-week to make the move to St James’ Park.

It’s now stated that Barcelona suspect Dembele has offered himself elsewhere, primarily to Newcastle.

Dembele’s contract expires next summer and he is interested in joining Newcastle on a free transfer next summer.

That would give Barcelona a major loss having forked out £135.5million to sign Dembele in 2017.

Even in 2019, Josep Bartomeu suggested that Dembele is ‘much better’ than Neymar – an opinion that some may heavily disagree with.

Injuries have been a major problem for Dembele in recent years, stunting his development.

Dembele has never managed more than eight league goals in a season for Barcelona, and may simply need a fresh start.

Combining Dembele and compatriot Allan Saint-Maximin could be exciting for Newcastle, though they absolutely need to stay up to land Dembele.
