Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for FC Dallas talent Ricardo Pepi, but winning the race for his signature won’t be easy.

Liverpool chase Pepi deal

CBS Sports reported earlier this week that Liverpool have now joined the race to sign FC Dallas teenager Pepi.

It’s understood that the 18-year-old has requested a transfer away from the Major League Soccer side.

A host of European clubs now want to sign Pepi, whose early record has been outstanding.

Pepi has hit 13 goals in 27 MLS games this season as well as firing three goals in four United States caps.

Liverpool’s US owners could now strike an exciting deal to sign Pepi, who has been backed for a huge future.

Pepi compared to Dzeko

A report from The Athletic earlier this month talked up Pepi’s quality and potential.

A coach had allegedly compared Pepi to former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in terms of his style of play.

The Bosnian is one of the most underrated strikers in European football in recent times.

Just look at his goal record. 85 goals in 142 games for Wolfsburg. 72 goals in 189 games for Manchester City. 119 goals in 260 games for Roma. Already seven goals in 11 games for Inter Milan.

Dzeko may not seem the like the most exciting comparison, but he has been a quality striker for many years.

If Pepi can become even half the player of Dzeko, Liverpool could have a star on their hands/
