Who is Casey Anthony?
Casey Anthony is a mother from Orange County, Florida, who was accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony in 2008.
It was a very high-profile criminal case and the trial took place three years later in 2011.
On July 5th 2011, she was found not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child.
However, she was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to law enforcement and sentenced to four years in jail.
She was released from jail just 12 days later as she appealed the convictions and now lives a normal life in Florida.
The murder case explained
On July 15th 2008, 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, who lived with her mother and grandparents in Orlando, was reported missing on a 911 call made by her grandmother Cindy.
She told police she hadn’t seen Caylee for 31 days and Casey’s car smelled like a dead body had been inside it, which Cadaver dogs confirmed to be true.
After initially lying and saying Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny, she was charged with first-degree murder and pleaded not guilty in October 2008.
Two months later, on December 11th, Caylee’s remains were found inside a laundry bag in a wooded area near the family home, but her death was ruled as “death by undetermined means”.
The jury deliberated for 10 hours and 40 minutes before deciding Casey was not guilty.

The case has gone viral on TikTok
It’s been 12 years since Caylee disappeared and 10 years since Casey was found guilty, and the case is suddenly going viral on TikTok.
TikTok users are obsessed with true crime stories, but why is this one so special?
According to TikTok users, Casey actually joined the app herself and was posting videos earlier this year.
Her account now appears to have been deleted, but her TikTok presence brought the old case to everyone’s attention.
Despite being found not guilty, many believe she did murder her daughter, and conspiracy theory videos often flood TikTok.
Many people are also comparing her case to TikTok user Digital Princxss whose charges have recently been dropped after she was arrested and charged with child neglect in August 2021.
So, what is Casey doing now? Apart from making TikTok’s that is.
Well, Casey is currently living a normal life in Florida, and has reportedly been spotted in bars around the state.
A source told InTouch in 2020 that she was “writing a detailed and definitive account of her life and the tragedy of losing Caylee and everything that followed.”
She also launched her own private investigation firm to help other people who are facing serious legal charges for something they didn’t do.
