West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sebastien Haller scored against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

What’s the story?

Well, the forward – who left West Ham in January – absolutely shone for Ajax in the Champions League last night.

Haller provided two assists as well as scoring, in what was a masterclass in Amsterdam.

It comes just months after David Moyes sold him for £20.2m, a huge loss on the £45m Manuel Pellegrini spent on the striker’s services.

The 27-year-old now has 12 goals in 13 appearances this season, in what is his first full campaign at Ajax.

Haller has also provided four assists, while he has netted six goals in just three Champions League outings.

Did West Ham make a mistake in selling Sebastien Haller?

In our view, selling Haller was still the right thing to do, despite his incredible efforts for Ajax.

He just wasn’t suited to Moyes, who seemingly prefers willing runners like Michail Antonio and Jarrow Bowen.

Haller was often quite static, and while he obviously has quality, his work rate was not good enough to play upfront under Moyes.

Sometimes, a player and club just don’t fit well, which is what happened with West Ham and the 6-cap Ivory Coast international.

The Hammers cut their losses and offloaded Haller, and now both parties are better off – there were no losers in the deal.

For now, let’s see what the West Ham fans on Twitter have been saying about Haller’s performance last night…
