Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Stephen Kelly has been speaking about West Ham after their win against Everton at the weekend.

The Hammers continued their bright start to the season against the Toffees and while it was Angelo Ogbonna who got the winning goal, Kelly was full of praise for Michail Antonio.

Antonio caused Everton all sorts of problems, notably going up for a challenge with Jordan Pickford that resulted in the corner Ogbonna scored from.

Kelly was impressed by Antonio and he says he looks like he’s going to cause teams all sorts of problems.

What’s been said?

Kelly was impressed by the West Ham striker.

“It’s a huge win, it’s never easy going where they went to get that result either. West Ham were the better side for the most of the game, they didn’t create loads of chances, but they looked more threatening. Antonio who is up front for them, he looks like he’s going to cause teams problems. He’s an issue, he’s quick, he’s strong and he holds up play,” Kelly said.

Contenders if he stays fit

If Antonio stays fit, West Ham will once again be contenders for a place in the top four this season.

David Moyes has built a squad with an incredibly solid spine. The likes of Declan Rice, Kurt Zouma, Tomas Soucek and Angelo Ogbonna will make sure that the midfield and the defence are top-notch, while Antonio will be the main man up top.

However, West Ham don’t have too much depth in the number nine spot, so if he goes down injured, the London club’s form could easily dip.

Fingers crossed Antonio can keep up this level of form for the rest of the season.
