Mikel Arteta has claimed that Thomas Partey has been working on his shooting in training following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

Speaking to the press via Football London, the Basque manager revealed that the 33-cap Ghana international has been training on his long-range shots at London Colney.

Partey has been criticised for his shots from distance since joining Arsenal, yet Arteta has said that the former La Liga star has been working on improving them at Arsenal’s training ground.

The ex-Atletico Madrid midfielder is yet to score a goal for Arsenal since arriving in north London last year. And Partey came close to scoring last night against Palace.

The Gunners threw away a 1-0 lead to draw 2-2 with the east London side. And Arteta believes that Partey is getting closer to scoring his first goal for Arsenal.

The former Manchester City assistant said: “Today he was much closer than he’s been. It’s something we’re practising with him. He’s trying and he needs to keep trying, but in the right areas.”
