Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has been speaking about the Premier League title race and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

It’s widely accepted that there could well be a three-way race for the title this season with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all pushing to be the champions this time around.

All three teams have their strengths and their merits, but Adam believes that Liverpool can boast about having the best player in the world right now, as he says that Salah is on another level to anybody else.

What’s been said?

Adam was speaking about the title race.

“It’s fascinating. There’s three teams with three styles and they’re all up there. Liverpool, the way they press and they have Salah, he is the best player in the world at the moment, but then you have City who want to play and they drive games, while Chelsea and the power and the strength they have, it’s phenomenal,” Adam said.

A league of his own

Adam reckons Salah is the best player in the world right now, and that’s quite the claim.

We live in an era that has been dominated by two of the greatest footballers of all time – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but as those two enter the twilights of their careers, new contenders are emerging at the top.

Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe probably have something to say about Salah being labelled the world’s best, but after the last couple of months it’s hard to disagree.

The Egyptian is doing mind-blowing things on a football pitch on a weekly basis, and while it’s incredibly bold to say he’s the best player on the planet right now, it’s hard to argue against that claim.
