Philippe Coutinho was on the scoresheet last night as the former Liverpool hero scored a goal in FC Barcelona’s La Liga win over Valencia.

The Brazilian international finished off a well-worked assist from Sergino Dest as Coutinho scored his first goal of the 2021/22 season. Barcelona have been eager to sell the ex-Anfield icon over the summer transfer window.

However, due to Coutinho’s sky-high wage, a transfer was never really feasable for the 29-year-old playmaker. And under Ronald Koeman, the Brazilian has seen little-to-no first team action.

Indeed, it would be an understatement to say that Coutinho’s move to Barcelona has been nothing short of a financial disaster. The Catalan side have never really seen the true quality of the former Liverpool star.

However, with Coutinho wrapping up a 3-1 win for Barcelona last night against Valencia, things could start getting better for the Brazilian international.

With no Lionel Messi or Antoine Griezmann at the club, there is room in the squad for a new superstar to emerge. And Coutinho could well be that player for Barcelona like he was at Liverpool.
