Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Mohamed Salah is better than Kylian Mbappe right now, as quoted on BBC Sport.

What’s the story?

Just in case you have not heard, Liverpool forward Salah scored a world-class goal against Watford yesterday.

It was similar to the goal that the Egypt international scored against Manchester City in the Premier League this season.

The goal against Watford in the Premier League was truly special.

Judge it for yourself.

After the match, Liverpool manager Klopp raved about Salah, saying that he is the best player in the world at the moment.

The German said that the 29-year-old is ahead of a number of players now, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Mbappe.

BBC Sport quotes Klopp as saying: “We don’t have to talk about what Messi and Ronaldo have done for world football and their dominance. But right now, he [Salah] is the best.

“I see him every day. There are people like [Robert] Lewandowski and Ronaldo and Messi and [Kylian] Mbappe, but at this moment for sure he’s on top of that list.”

Liverpool’s official website quotes Klopp as saying about Salah: “For me, he’s the best.

“I see him every day and that makes it more easy for me, but Mr Lewandowski is out there, Ronaldo still scoring like crazy, Messi still putting out performances on a world-class level, Mbappe and all these kind of things and others will come. But, yes, in this moment he is for sure on top of that list.”

Kylian Mbappe acknowledgement

What is interesting about Klopp’s comments is his acknowledgment of Mbappe among the best players in the world.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker is out of contract at the end of the season.

And Liverpool have been linked with a free transfer.

Journalist Ian McGarry claimed on the Transfer Window Podcast in August 2021 that the Reds are keen on bringing the France international striker to Anfield next season.

Mbappe – who earns £410,000 per week as salary at PSG, according to The Week – would be a stunning signing for Liverpool.

Can you imagine Mbappe and Salah playing together?

Wow!
