A video of Fat Trel coming out of a prison facility is going viral on Twitter. But, why was he in jail?
Fat Trel is an American hip-hop artist whose real name is Martrel Reeves. He released a solo mixtape every year from 2009 to 2016 and is currently signed to DLTA Records.

Why was Fat Trel in jail?
Fat Trel was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition in 2018, according to Revolt TV.
The rapper was reportedly pulled over by cops for violating traffic rules. The outlet also states Fat Trel did not have a driver’s license on him as it was suspended.
The report claims that he “reeked of alcohol and marijuana” and when his vehicle was searched, the cops found “a .40-caliber pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition.” The alleged firearm was identified as a “ghost gun”.
Ghost guns are untraceable firearms that can be bought online and assembled at home.
How long was the rapper in jail?
Fat Trel reportedly pleaded guilty for possession of a ghost gun in 2020 and faced a maximum of 10 years in prison.
In September 2021, US District Judge Paula Xinis said he would be sentenced to two years and six months in federal prison and three years of supervised release, as reported by The Sun.
He was released on October 15, 2021.
Fat Trel was first arrested in 2016 for trying to exchange “fake money” for chips at Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, according to the Washington Post.
