Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has named Mohamed Salah as his standout player in the Premier League so far, stating that he expects the Egyptian to have a big season.

Salah has started the season in fine form. He tops the Premier League scoring charts and he’s looked dangerous every single time he’s stepped onto the pitch.

A fortnight ago he scored one of the goals of the season against Manchester City and he’ll be hoping to repeat the trick against Watford on Saturday.

Carragher thinks he’s been the standout player in the league so far, claiming that it looks like he’s going to have a big season.

What’s been said?

Carragher was asked to name who he thinks has been the best player in the league up until this point.

“I think there’s probably been four or five that have stood out. Ronaldo got Player of the Month, Lukaku at the start of the season. A couple of Everton players as well, Andros Townsend has been amazing, but on the back of the goal he scored against City I’d say Mo Salah, he probably just edges it and it looks like it’s going to be a big season. I’d go for Salah, he’s just edged it,” Carragher said.

Biggest season yet

It’s not an exaggeration to say that this looks like it could be Salah’s best season yet in a Liverpool shirt.

Yes, the winger does hold the record for the most goals in a 38-game Premier League season, but after netting six times in seven appearances so far this term, that record in on course to be broken.

Salah isn’t just scoring goals at a remarkable rate. His all-around play has been simply mesmeric and he’s arguably the best player in the world right now.
