Has Little Things been renewed for season 5?

At the time of writing, Little Things has not been renewed for season 5 by either Netflix or Dice Media.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that Little Things will return to either the streaming giant or the Dice Media YouTube channel in the future.

This is because the recently released fourth season, which launched on October 15th, was consistently labelled as ‘the final season’ in the promotional campaign.

Mention of the final season was not only included in the official trailer for season 4, but also in the original press release from Netflix’s Media Centre.

“Watch Dhruv Sehgal and Mithila Palkar aka Momo and Biryani monster make their way onto your screens one last time and into your hearts forever, as Netflix brings to you the Season four of Little Things on the 15th of October.” – Netflix Newsroom.

Director Ruchir Arum and Pranjal Dua also reaffirmed that season 4 was the last instalment in the Little Things story. Arum explained to Netflix that “It is a bittersweet feeling, the finale – it was a rollercoaster of emotions shooting it.”

“As the final season of Little Things releases on Netflix, we really wish to leave the audiences with a smile on their face as we begin to say goodbye.”  – Ruchir Arum and Pranjal Dua, via Netflix.

However, there has been some considerable confusion online surrounding the potential future of Little Things.

The first reason for this is because the final scene in season 4 revealed that we were still “6 months, 12 days and 3 hours before [the] wedding” – indicating that season 5 still had some wiggle-room in the overall timeline.

The second was because of a report from The Beyond News media outlet, who have incorrectly stated that season 5 was not only “upcoming” but set to release in May 2022.

As previously mentioned, Little Things season 4 was consistently labelled as the final season by Netflix and no information regarding a fifth instalment has been publicly shared.

How is season 4 being rated by fans and critics?

The fourth season of Little Things has only just been released on Netflix, meaning that there is still a whole host of viewers who will be waiting for the weekend to start before binging the final act.

Unfortunately, Netflix does not reveal their viewership statistics for every title, but it is obvious how popular the series is with fans around the world – look no further than the 1.2 billion views that the first season received on YouTube.

At the time of writing, the series is scoring a solid 8.3/10 on IMDB, but this is a series average with the recently released episodes not yet being rated as an individual season.

However, the reviews from various critics are now in and generally, season 4 of Little Things has received a generally favourable send-off.

Mayank Shekhar from Mid-Day explained how the reason why Little Things has become such as global hit is because it captures the feeling of dating at a young age for a metropolitan audience.

“It’s the last scenes that must leave a lasting impression. Sticking to the well-established grammar of the show, what you still enjoy most are the extraneous things you observe. Since merely following the plot is not the point.” – Mayank Shekar, via Mid-Day.

A similar sentiment is stated by Koimoi’s Shubham Kulkarni, who praised both the acting performances from the cast, but the decision to approach season 4 with a more mature atmosphere.

“This is the last time we meet Dhruv and Kavya. I wish they didn’t stop making the show. Even if they are growing up, there is still a spark. Get into it and feel the magic. Bonus point: the climax is made to win hearts!” – Shubham Kulkarni, via Koimoi.

However, not every critic was left satisfied with season 4, in particular First Post’s Devansh Sharma who felt that the goodbye was rushed from start to finish. Sharma argues that season 4 faltered in its simplicity and conviction to charm us, ending with the poignant “I just wished there was more sense to this ending, rather than just a dry-eyed lens on this ending.”
