Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Tottenham attacker Harry Kane following their takeover last week.
According to Eurosport, the northeast club are keeping an eye on Kane’s situation with the north London side as Newcastle eye a statement signing under their new leadership.
Newcastle have seemingly been linked with every name under the sun in recent weeks, and Kane is the latest player to join a pile that already contains the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Mauro Icardi.
Kane famously wanted to leave Spurs in the summer. However, a transfer to Manchester City just couldn’t happen. With chairman Daniel Levy digging in his heels to keep the Tottenham star at the club
With Kane yet to score in the Premier League this season and Spurs’ form in general being mixed under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, it appears that the England captain is feeling the effects of the summer drama.
And now, Newcastle are seemingly keen on signing Kane. The Magpies could meet Levy’s financial demands, which will no doubt increase given the huge wealth the Toon now have access to.
Spurs fans name Newcastle their price for Kane
Whilst Newcastle have all the money in the world to sign Kane, some Tottenham fans on social media are still shocked that Steve Bruce’s side would consider a move for their star striker.
Here’s what some Spurs fans had to say on Twitter about Newcastle eyeing a move for Kane…
Sell him for 200m+ and invest in the team— Ashiqur Rahman (@ashiqurrahman) October 13, 2021
I mean honestly, why not? He’s not to a PL rival, we could get £150-200mil because they have it, we could rebuild with 2-3 very quality players and be stronger for it. Love Harry, but 🤷🏼♂️— DAC (@DAcaverly) October 13, 2021
If they paid the 160 mil and we got Martinez and vlahovic with the money I wouldn’t be dissatisfied. Harry wants away. He’s made it clear. We need to accept it and move on.— Fraser (@fraser8814) October 13, 2021
Sure. Now that they have the richest ownership group in sports, surely £400m ought to do it— When We Were THFC Ⓥ (@AryehLender) October 13, 2021
£150m minimum for City worth £32b. Definitely £250m for £320b Newcastle. Who we know Levy has a dislike to.— Neil Monaghan (@NeilMonaghan619) October 13, 2021
