Jack Wilshere has been speaking to Sky Sports about Arsenal, after Mikel Arteta invited him to train with the team at London Colney.
The 29-year-old spoke about a number of other topics, but interestingly, he chose to shower one Arsenal player in praise.
What’s the story?
Well, it sounds as if Wilshere has been very impressed by Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The 34-cap England international said: “They’ve brought in Lokonga, who’s young. I’ve been really impressed with him since watching and training with him this week.”
That’s great news, to say the least. The 1-cap Belgium international is still adapting to a new country – during a global pandemic as well – and all at the age of just 21.
As a result, Lokonga may have struggled to focus on his football, but it sounds like he’s doing very well according to Wilshere.
Lokonga has done well in those games, and his display in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea was arguably his most impressive performance.
Could Lokonga learn from Wilshere at Arsenal?
Wilshere is eight years older than Lokonga, and has plenty of experience at the top level of English football.
As a result, he can surely lend a helping hand to the Belgian.
The fact they both play in the centre of midfield should also help Wilshere guide the Arsenal No.23 to greatness.
Add in the fact that Arteta was also a centre-midfielder, and Lokonga has two people at London Colney who should be able to help him hugely.
Hopefully, Lokonga can go on to become as good as Wilshere was for the Gunners.
