How was episode 1 rated by fans?
Unfortunately, neither Crunchyroll nor Funimation publicly reveal their official streaming statistics for their simulcast titles, but we are able to discuss fan reaction thanks to various user-feedback websites.
In general, Platinum End season 1 episode 1 was received favourably, if not slightly underwhelmingly, by fans online. The series is currently scoring an impressive 8.2/10 on IMDB, 4.6/5 on Crunchyroll and 7.6/10 on MyAnimeList, with the latter having over 13,000 individual ratings.
“Platinum End – the narrative arc of the first episode is kind of messy. The emotions jumped all over the place without much of a transition. However, a lackluster first episode doesn’t mean a series is doomed, so I’m hoping the series as a whole will still be good.” – GirlTaku_AT, via Twitter.
However, considering the excitement and anticipation surrounding the series before its debut, some viewers may have been left slightly disheartened – hopefully, these scores serve as a benchmark for Platinum End’s first season.
