The agent of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is awaiting an offer for his client from Newcastle United, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.
Is there a player on planet earth who has not been linked with a move to St James’ Park in the past few days?
In addition to a number of proven Premier League stars, Newcastle have been tipped to lure some of Serie A’s best and brightest to the banks of the Tyne with their Saudi Arabian investors determined to transform the club into a domestic and continental force.
And, according to agent Tullio Tinti, an approach for Italy international Bastoni would be welcomed too – even if the ink is still drying on the long-term contract the 2020/21 Serie A champion signed in May.
Is the agent of Bastoni using Newcastle to get at Inter Milan?
“He signed a contract a short time ago,” says Tinti, who hit out at Inter earlier in the year as negotiations over a new deal dragged on amid reported interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
“I haven’t heard from Newcastle yet. I hope they call me but Bastoni has the Inter shirt on for now.”
While Newcastle’s Saudi owners would make King Croesus look like a penny-pinching pauper, Inter Milan found themselves in the eye of a financial storm recently. The club was forced to cash in on Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi while also losing influential coach Antonio Conte due to concerns over being unable to build on last season’s success.
“If Bastoni were put on the market, we would evaluate,” Tinti adds of a man who has been valued in the region of £43 million.
“But we have signed a contract and we want to respect (the club). He wants to stay at Inter, he has been cheering for this team since he was a child.”
