Jack Wilshere has admitted to Sky Sports that he doesn’t think he will be playing for Arsenal again any time soon.
Wilshere returns
Wilshere is training with Arsenal currently, as he looks to get back to fitness and tries to find a new club.
Mikel Arteta has always played down the idea of the Gunners actually signing Wilshere on a free transfer.
And while the former England international admits that he wants to continue his playing career, he doubts he’ll get the chance to do so at Arsenal.
“I don’t think so. The training shirt is enough for me,” he said, when asked if he would ever pull on an Arsenal shirt again.
A missed opportunity?
The risk with signing Wilshere is limited currently due to the lack of costs involved.
Wilshere could provide Arsenal with an injection of creative quality, but it is understandable why Arteta is reticent to make the move permanent.

Since leaving Arsenal Wilshere’s career has never reached the heights that many expected.
He has struggled badly with injury and his most recent spell was spent with Bournemouth in the Championship.
With Arsenal having the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard already at the club, Arteta’s side do have good creative options, and having Wilshere just on the training ground may actually be the sensible option for now.
