Newcastle United have new owners and if Christian Falk is to be believed, there could be something of a German revolution at St James’ Park.
All three of these additions would be exciting at St James’ Park, but perhaps the most mouth-watering prospect is the idea of Rangnick and Werner once again linking up.
Rangnick of course worked with Werner at RB Leipzig, and he believes that the striker is a brilliant finisher as well as being fantastic off the ball.
What’s been said?
Rangnick has previously spoken about Werner during his time at Leipzig.
“From a purely hypothetical point of view, I believe he would be better off with a club that aren’t necessarily defined by possession football,” said Rangnick.
“His most important weapons are his movement in counter-attacks and great finishing. That’s why he would be suited to a club like Liverpool, who have a similar playing style to Leipzig.”
Match made in heaven
If Newcastle bring in both Rangnick and Werner then it could be something of a match made in heaven.
As the former Leipzig boss says, Werner is suited to a counter-attacking side that isn’t defined by playing possession football, and that’s exactly the style Rangnick would bring to St James’ Park should he be appointed.
Werner has the capability to be a fantastic striker. After all, he netted 28 goals during his last season in the Bundesliga, and Rangnick has already proven he knows how to get the best out of him.
