“Would you like to play a game, Tara?”
You’d better believe it, baby. Ghostface is back and Scream fans are celebrating the long-awaited release of the Scream trailer.
Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the fifth film in the franchise reunites an exciting selection of old faces, including Dewey (David Arquette), Sidney (Neve Campbell), and Gale (Courteney Cox).
Once again, a masked killer is stalking Woodsboro but this time – as the trailer informs us – the attacks are all on people related to the original killers, giving it a unique and eerie spin.
After finally seeing some footage, both fans and those who have never seen the originals are eager to work their way through the film series. So, here’s where to watch the Scream movies…
Where to watch the Scream movies
All four Scream movies are ready to rent over on the likes of Amazon Video, Google Play, and YouTube.
Additionally, those with FuboTV and DirecTV can stream them too.
Unfortunately, they’re not currently available on the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video as part of subscriptions at the moment.
Nevertheless, they’re available for a few dollars or pounds on the aforementioned platforms, so it’s not expensive to embark upon a Scream marathon this spooky season.
As for the fifth movie, it’s not expected to hit screens until Friday, January 14th 2021, and will initially be in cinemas rather than streaming.
“There was no pressure on that movie to be something special”
Matthew Lillard recently reflected upon working on the original film and its monumental legacy today while chatting with Bloody Disgusting:
“We were like this little family for two months. I think that [director WesCraven] loved that. I believe that he enjoyed that. There was no pressure on that movie to be something special. It ended up being something iconic, but at the moment, there wasn’t the pressure.”
He added: “I think the other three movies, certainly four now, must’ve felt it during the production, which is interesting. Right? I mean, he went from sort of this carefree moment to, by the end, I think he was miserable. I don’t think it was a secret.”
Elaborating on this, the actor explained that Wes “was really miserable by the time he did four” because of the sheer “pressure to produce an iconic film.”
When does Scream 5 take place?
Now you know where to watch the Scream movies, it’s worth looking ahead.
The fifth film is set to take place 25 years after the original Woodsboro massacre that took place in Wes Craven’s original.
You may be wondering if it will bypass the sequels too, as much like David Gordon Green’s 2018 film Halloween, this installment has simply been titled Scream.
However, it treats the three existing sequels as canon, with Marley Shelton set to reprise the role of Judy Hicks from Scream 4.
Scream arrives in cinemas on Friday, January 14th 2022.
