Simon Jordan has claimed that it will be the ‘ultimate hypocrisy’ from the Newcastle United fans if they clap Steve Bruce for his 1000th game in charge on Sunday, as he told talkSPORT (12/10/21 at 10:15 am).
Jim White claimed that there is the possibility that Bruce will still be in charge at the weekend when Newcastle take on Spurs.
With the Magpies now in control of a Saudi-led group, it is looking highly likely, whether that’s today or next week, that Bruce will be sacked.
He has never been Mr Popular with the Toon Army faithful and that view point isn’t going to change now that Mike Ashley has gone.
But given that the Saudi’s need time to get their feet under the table, it could see Bruce still be in the dugout at the weekend.
And Jordan took a jibe at the Newcastle fans for their possible actions towards him, which could now change because they have new owners and they are aware he won’t be there for long.
“I was told it could well be Steve Bruce’s in the techincal area for Tottenham,” said White. “That is signicant, Simon. He’s on 999, for God’s sake, let him get in the technical area for his (1000th game).”
Jordan added: “Wouldn’t it be the ultimate hypocrisy if the Newcastle fans clapped his 1000th of game. That’s the level of hypocrisy that will happen. They will give him a round of applause.”
When Bruce is out of the door, it will be interesting to see who Newcastle push for because this individual will be the most important cog in the wheel.
Get this wrong, then many things can follow the same troubling way.
But if they appoint the right man, then even if there are a few hiccups along the way, at least one of the most important cogs of the wheel is working.
A lot of people, both on the inside and the outside, are expecting that statement appointment, so it will be interesting to see if the club deliver that.
