The past 18 months have been a turbulent time for movie releases with the Covid-19 pandemic forcing films to move online or delay their release dates.

Despite the changing landscape, new films have found their way onto screens one way or another and the newest arrival from legendary director Ridley Scott, The Last Duel, is finally here.

But just where will The Last Duel be available to watch? Will the film be streaming or only in theaters?

The Last Duel release date and plot

After originally being scheduled to release in December 2020, The Last Duel finally hits screens on October 15th, 2021 in the US and UK although film’s release date differs slightly depending on the country in question.

Directed by the legendary Ridley Scott, The Last Duel tells the 14th-century story of Marguerite de Carrouges who claims to have been raped by Jacques Le Gris, her husband’s best friend and squire.

With his reputation on the line, Marguerite’s husband, the feared knight Jean de Carrouges, challenges Jacques to a trial by combat in what would be the last legally sanctioned duel in French history.

Where to watch The Last Duel

The Last Duel will be available to watch exclusively in theaters when it releases around the world in October.

That’s right, film fans will have to venture out to the cinema to watch The Last Duel on the big screen.

Film fans in the US can find out which venues are screening The Last Duel here while UK readers will be able to do the same here once the film is out.

According to Variety, The Last Duel will have an exclusive 45-day run in cinemas before moving to digital platforms.

Once the 45 days have passed, it’s expected that the film will be made available on digital stores such as Google Play and Amazon Prime Video’s store.

On top of that, if The Last Duel makes it onto streaming sites, its likely destination will be Hulu or Disney+ as 20th Century Studios is now under the Disney umbrella.
