Philippe Coutinho is reportedly on the radar for Newcastle ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, FC Barcelona are eager to sell the Brazilian international. And discussions from inside Newcastle have led to serious interest in Coutinho.

The playmaker, who earns a reported £383,000-a-week at Barcelona, is believed to be unhappy at the Catalan giants. Ronald Koeman has hardly used the former Liverpool this season.

Coutinho is likely to leave Barcelona, and Newcastle could be a genuine destination for the 29-year-old attacker. After all, with the Magpies effectively having an endless pit of money, the Brazilian’s financial demands could be met.

Indeed, the list of suitors for Coutinho are slowly dwindling. Arsenal and Tottenham were believed to have been interested in the midfielder in the summer, whilst a return to Liverpool has also been loosely touted over the years.

Moreover, with Newcastle likely to make a statement signing in January, there is a strong chance that Coutinho could be that player given his situation at Barcelona.
