Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to the currently injured Trézéguet being photoshopped in for the released team photo for the 2021/22 campaign.

On Tuesday, the club posted the team photo on Twitter, with the players pictured in their Claret and Blue strips at Villa Park.

All the senior players, youngsters who have broken through and coaching staff were all in the picture.

There were some new faces, of course, from popular winger and summer signing Leon Bailey to Villa’s new set-piece coach Austin MacPhee.

However, the eagle-eyed Villa fans noticed that a certain Trézéguet wasn’t exactly present, and instead, a cardboard cut out of him was displayed.

Villa fans saw the funny side to this all, with the Egyptian currently nursing a knee injury he suffered against Liverpool towards the back end of last season.

He is clearly recovering elsewhere in the country, or even possibly, back home where he is trying to work his way back up.

It probably won’t be until the New Year that Villa fans get to see their high-flying winger back on the Villa Park pitch in the flesh.

But luckily for Dean Smith, he is now stacked in the wide areas, with Bertrand Traore, Bailey, Emiliano Buendia and Anwar El Ghazi his options.

Not forgetting Ashley Young and Ollie Watkins, but of course, many of them can’t earn get those starts because of the new system that has been deployed.
