Since the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Amanda Staveley and Jamie Reuben dislodged Mike Ashley at Newcastle, things have gone wild.
It feels as if the Magpies have been linked to 50 players a day, such is the clamour over their newfound wealth in the transfer market.
One player who Newcastle have shortlisted – according to SPORT – is Tottenham’s Dele Alli.
The 25-year-old has endured a turbulent run in north London during recent times, following clashes with José Mourinho.
Despite his poor form, the £5m man must still have some ability in his locker.
After all, no normal player scores 18 Premier League goals as a 20-year-old.
Gary Lineker, for one, believes Alli can still score ‘bundles of goals’ throughout his career, thanks to his ‘exemplary’ movement.
You can see what the BBC Match of the Day host tweeted about Alli below.
The movement of @Dele_Alli is exemplary and way beyond his years. Will score bundles of goals in his career.— Gary Lineker 💙 (@GaryLineker) August 13, 2017
Form is temporary, class is permanent. The 37-cap England international has struggled in recent years, although you don’t lose your ability that quickly.
Of course, Lineker’s tweet is from a few years ago, although things like movement come naturally to footballers – you need that instinct.
Regardless of whether Alli has regressed physically, he should still possess the striker’s brain which Lineker lauded back in 2017.
In our view, Alli has merely stagnated at Spurs, and needs a fresh challenge to get stuck into.
With £190m to spend on new players, perhaps a revolution at Newcastle is just what the Tottenham No.20 needs to resurrect his stuttering career.
