Reported Arsenal and Everton target David Raya said he dreams of playing for ‘big clubs’ but, speaking to Cadena Ser, pointed out that he is happy at Premier League newcomers Brentford.
While plenty of column inches have been dedicated to Bryan Mbeumo, Ethan Pinnock and the irrepressible Ivan Toney in recent weeks, no one should underplay the impact Raya has made during Brentford’s outstanding start to top-flight life.
The cat-like Spaniard has kept clean sheets in three of the last seven games and produced a number of eye-catching saves in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool; his ‘incredible‘ performance earning the admiration of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp in the process.
As a result, speculation regarding Raya’s future is only going to intensify, with Arsenal and Everton just two of the clubs who have been linked thus far.
“I am happy at the club. I want to have a good season this year. Next summer, we will see what happens,” said the former Blackburn Rovers ace when quizzed about interest from the Gunners and the Toffees.
“My ambitions are great, I would like to play at the top. You always want to play for big clubs.”
Could David Raya finally join Arsenal in 2022?

There is a real chance that Raya would have followed Said Benrahma, Neal Maupay and co out of Brentford if Thomas Frank’s side had not defeated Swansea City in May’s play-off final.
According to the Sun, Arsenal scrapped plans to sign Raya over the summer, walking away from the table after the Spaniard made it clear that he wanted to stay at a club on the rise.
“The club used to have the tendency to buy very well and cheaply with the scouting team and be able to sell them at a higher price,” Raya added.
“But this year, when going up to the Premier League, it was not feasible to sell anyone. And, as well, no player wanted to leave when going up to the Premier League.”
Arsenal are likely to be in the market for a new shot-stopper next year, with Bernd Leno expected to depart.
