Liverpool are apparently about to blow Barcelona out of the water in the race to sign Franck Kessie.

Blowing rivals out the water

El Nacional says that Liverpool are ready to double Barca’s offer to the midfielder, who will leave AC Milan on a free transfer.

Cash strapped Barca reportedly wanted Kessie and saw him as a bargain, considering he was available on a free.

Barca were set to offer a £13 million signing on fee to bring Kessie to the Camp Nou, but Liverpool are said to be readying a deal worth double that.

It is claimed that the Reds will pay Kessie a staggering £25 million to convince him to move to Anfield.

That seems like a huge fee, but on a free transfer the Ivorian is sure to be one of the most in demand players in the market and could still remain a bargain.

Good fit for Liverpool?

If he was to join Liverpool he could fill a gap in their squad too.

Liverpool are well stocked in midfield, but many of their options in the position are yet to entirely convince as regular starters.

Jurgen Klopp’s side did not dip back into the market to replace Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer, which means they are shorter in the position than they were last season.

The emergence of youngsters such as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott has helped fill the void so far this season.

But Kessie, who has been described as ‘devastating’ by Antonio Cassano (Milan Live), is already an elite performer and may well be capable of stepping straight into Liverpool’s first-team if he was to join.
