Maid arrived on Netflix on Friday, October 1st, 2021.

Based on the best-selling memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive by Stephanie Land, the series tells the story of Alex, a single mother who becomes a housecleaner in an attempt to make ends meet.

After escaping an abusive relationship, Alex and her daughter, Maddy, are living on, if not below the poverty line, and only Alex’s determination will help them overcome their plight.

How many episodes are in Maid?

Maid consists of 10 episodes in total.

Alex’s journey begins in episode 1 as she looks to escape from her abusive boyfriend, Sean, and with next to no money in her pocket she begins working as a maid in order to survive.

Over the course of the series, Alex meets several colourful characters, culminating in a custody battle over her daughter, Maddy.

The series boasts an average runtime of 54 minutes per episode, give or take a few minutes, meaning that fans wanting to binge all episodes of Maid should be prepared for a total watch-time of just under 10 hours.

Will Maid return for season 2?

No, Maid will not be returning to Netflix for a second season.

That’s because Maid has been billed as a limited series on the streaming service, meaning its story is told over just one season.

The reason for this is that Maid is based on a single book, Stephanie Land’s best-selling memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, and there is no other source material to work from.

Maid is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on October 1st, 2021.
