The Mirror have reported that Liverpool are willing to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain at the right price.

The Reds actually signed the midfielder from the Gunners for £35 million.

Kevin Campbell verdict

Former Arsenal striker Campbell has said that Arsenal should not bring back Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “I just think that we know that we are going to be a bit short in midfield. If we can get a permanent signing, that’s what we want, but if we can’t get a permanent signing in, then we get a loan signing.

“The Ox, for me, obviously he has been at Liverpool, he suffered injuries like he did at Arsenal a lot of the time, hardly plays.

“When he has played, he has looked pretty lively in Liverpool’s team, but how many games does he play a season?

“We have been down that road, it’s not the road we go down anymore. Definitely not.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Arsenal?

Oxlade-Chamberlain has had injury problems at Liverpool, and there is also a strong competition for places.

Not many midfielders can play in a team ahead of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

Then there is Curtis Jones, who is a young, promising and dynamic midfielder.

A loan deal would not be such a bad idea for Arsenal.

Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are likely to be away for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could fill in while they are away, and add more competition and depth to the midfield when they are back.

William Saliba comments on Marseille loan spell

Meanwhile, William Saliba has said that he is enjoying his loan spell at Marseille.

The 20-year-old French central defender moved to Marseille on loan from Arsenal in the summer of 2021.

Saliba told L’Equipe: “We’ve done a big start to the season, even if the three last games haven’t been positive with two losses in Ligue 1.

“We’re going to come back to try and win. I have been welcomed really well by my teammates and the fans.

“For me, it’s a very good choice, it’s the club I needed, with a very good pressure. At my age, it’s good to play in a stadium like that.”
