To say Gavin Bazunu has had a whirlwind time at international level with the Republic of Ireland would be something of an understatement.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper has firmly established himself as Stephen Kenny’s number one choice between the sticks. And Bazunu was again impressive for Ireland this weekend.

The teenage goalkeeper started as Ireland took on Azerbaijan in Baku, with the Boys in Green securing a massive 3-0 win over the eastern European side.

Bazunu kept a clean sheet and was again a key factor behind Ireland collecting points in their bid to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Indeed, Bazunu has impressed for the majority of the season for both club and country. The Manchester City talent is currently on loan with League One side Portsmouth.

Whilst the 19-year-old won’t be replacing Ederson Moraes anytime soon at City, the teenager is performing well enough that Bazunu could start for a top club in the future.
