England U-21 manager Lee Carsley has confirmed that Liverpool star Curtis Jones will be assessed after suffering from a groin injury earlier in the week.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo ahead of the Young Lions U-21 EURO qualifier against Andorra, Carsley revealed that Jones won’t be risked after picking up an injury in training.
The Liverpool star missed Thursday’s 2-2 draw against Slovenia. And signs seem to suggest that Jones will again miss an England U-21 fixture due to injury.
Carsley said: “We’re waiting to see how he reacts this morning, he’ll have some treatment again. After the game, we definitely won’t be taking any risks and putting the players at risk of potentially them missing their games for the weekend.”
With Jones impressing for Liverpool this season, this injury update from Carsley is the last thing Jurgen Klopp wants to hear ahead of a huge Premier League clash against Watford.
The midfielder has made a huge step up for the Reds this campaign. Jones has taken a more creative role in the central midfield three, and the results have so far been outstanding.
Liverpool fans rage at Jones injury update

Jones has been key to Liverpool’s success this season, and fans on social media are fuming that the 20-year-old could be out for another international game for England’s young squad.
Here’s what some Liverpool fans had to say on Twitter about Jones potentially missing tomorrow’s game through injury.
