How many episodes are in Demon Slayer season 2?

At the time of writing, neither the Demon Slayer production team nor any of the official broadcasting partners have confirmed the number of episodes in season 2.

Ffans were expecting the second season to consist of 24 – 26 episodes, in accordance with the first instalment from 2019. This would also follow the information that the broadcast will run over two cours i.e., a three-month broadcasting block.

This means that Demon Slayer season 2 will run from October to December 2021 on the Fall anime slate and will continue through until the Winter 2022 schedule.

However, new information has been shared online from the broadcast schedule from iQIYI, which lists season 2 as having only 18 episodes.

Interestingly, popular scheduling website Next-Episode have labelled season 2 as consisting of 19 episodes, but again, the episode listing has not been official confirmed at the time of writing.

How long is the Mugen Train recap?

The first episode in Demon Slayer season 2 will be an original episode about Rengoku’s journey to the Mugen Train.

The next six episodes will be a television adaptation of the Mugen Train feature film, as confirmed by Anime News Network on September 25th.

These first seven episodes will incorporate various new content not seen in the movie, which will include around 70 new animation cuts/scenes.

This means that the first episode of season 2 will be an original episode about Regoku, before a television version of Mugen Train is broadcast from October 17th to November 28th.

The next chronological arc after Mugen Train, The Entertainment District Arc, will begin its television broadcast on Sunday, December 5th.

How to read the manga…

Demon Slayer began serialisation in February 2016 and concluded with the release of volume 23 (chapter 205) in May 2020.
