Reddit user agrees to photograph wedding

Sharing their story via Reddit, the photographer admitted: “I’m not really a photographer, I’m a dog groomer. I take lots of photos of dogs all day to put on my Facebook and Instagram, it’s “my thing” if that makes sense.

“A friend got married a few days ago and wanting to save money, asked if I’d shoot it for them.”

The Reddit user explained that the couple were on a budget, but agreed to shoot the day for $250.

However, things took a bitter turn later in the day, and the photographer ended up erasing the wedding snaps…

Why did the photographer delete wedding pictures?

The Reddit user recalled: “I started around 11am and was due to finish around 7:30pm. Around 5pm, food is being served and I was told I cannot stop to eat because I need to be photographer; in fact, they didn’t save me a spot at any table.

“I’m getting tired and at this point kinda regretting doing this for next to nothing. It’s also unbelievably hot: the venue is in an old veteran’s legion and it’s like 110F and there’s no AC.”

The photographer went on to explain that the groom had given them an ultimatum: “He tells me I need to either be photographer, or leave without pay.”

So, as a result, the dog-groomer-turned-photographer deleted the wedding snaps in front of him and took off!

Reddit users react to wedding story

The photographer took to Reddit, asking: “Was I the a**hole? They went right on their honeymoon and they’ve all been off of social media, but a lot of people have been posting on their wall asking about photos with zero responses.”

As expected, the user’s story stirred quite the debate.

One person wrote: “These aren’t “friends”, these are leaches.”

Another commented: “Duuude… Even professional wedding photographers who are paid $X,000 are given time to relax and have dinner during the reception/cocktail hour. It’s absolutely unreasonable for someone to be expected to work 10hrs without a break/food/water. NTA.”

On the other end of the spectrum, somebody else added: “Was what you did shi**y and petty? Absolutely. And it’s a general rule of thumb to never make big decisions when you’re grieving or hangry. But damn these “friends” of yours were terrible. Complete cheapskate AH’s and the groom was a groomzilla. There is no pass for how they treated you.”

Another wrote: “he treated you very poorly and expected too much for nothing. Sadly, I hope you are prepared for not only that ‘friendship’ to be over but also maybe losing some other mutual friends as well. You ultimately deleted pictures they can never get back…(unless you can retrieve them somehow).”
